The brief was to design and re-build the booking system from the ground up to deliver a flexible, scalable platform with both an improved experience for those booking as well as operational efficiency gains, ensuring Wasteland Ski's online offering stays far ahead of their nearest competitors.

Project Objectives:

Specific objectives met included the following:

  • Re-platform system to upgraded environment on latest Blaze framework
  • Facilitate continuous framework updates ongoing, avoiding legacy and future platform migrations
  • Update payment integration
  • Improve user experience for booking online
  • Enable 'quick booking' for taking deposits early prior to booking full options
  • Handle high load for peak booking spikes
  • Improve admin efficiencies and accuracy for management of events, trips, and options
  • Improved process for allocations (accommodation / transport)
  • Improved reporting for exporting users, bookings, payments, fees, and e-tickets...
  • Facilitate data management for new Web App

  • Imports (fees, users, user itinerary)

Project Roadmap:

There are a number of areas currently being developed for further iterative improvements ahead of the next peak booking season, including:

  • Automation of eTickets (management of itinerary details to generate eTickets)
  • Operations & Reporting Developments (full business journey from quote > performance analysis > financial reporting)
  • Small Groups (individuals booking for themselves and their group)
  • Multi-Site Platform (white labelled bookings sites)
  • Web App Developments (for reps / group leaders)
  • Group Leader Dashboard (stats, reports, intranet...)
