Stakeholders are any external parties to the team that have an interest in the project, these can be end-users, management or an operations staff member. Ultimately, this is direct or indirect users or those with a vested interest in the project (i.e. the wide range of people potentially affected by the development of the system in question). Stakeholder participation is key in any project, as this helps to identify what people actually want, over what they think they require.
